We are Dog Friendly!
As a dog-friendly bed and breakfast in Cartmel, Aynsome has been designed with our four-legged friends in mind, whilst also respecting those guests who are not so inclined. Well-behaved dogs will find themselves warmly welcomed in our hotel.
Our Dog-Friendly Amenities
There are currently four rooms specifically-designed to provide dog-friendly accommodation in the Lake District – rooms five to eight on the first floor. This floor also has its own private staircase separate from the rest of the hotel. Dog owners can check in with their canine companions at the main reception, but dogs are not allowed in the other public areas out of respect for all our guests. You’ll also benefit from your own parking area, entrance and a dog-and-owner’s room we’ve named ‘Bamford’s’, where you can relax and meet with like-minded, dog-loving folk. For those who enjoy long walks in the Lake District with their dog, there is nowhere better than Aynsome. It can get wet and muddy in the countryside, so we encourage you to use our special ‘après-walk doggy wash’ with hot and cold water. Feel free to bring your pet’s own dressing gown for post-shower comfort or alternatively, we can provide one for you upon request.
Your Stay
You can also enjoy breakfast with your dog should you wish. This can be organised with our House Manager when you check in. In the evening, if you would like a drink together, this can be arranged in Bamford’s for you. We’ll provide dog bowls for food and water and these can be used in Bamford’s or in the Courtyard immediately adjacent. Your best friend’s food can be stored for you, but we find most our guests prefer to keep it in their vehicle. If you’d like to venture out in the evening to explore Cartmel, we have a dog sitting service but please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Our dog sitting service is £25.00 per hour with a three-hour minimum and this can be booked directly with one of our three approved sitters.
Things to Note
There are a few housekeeping rules to be aware of. Firstly, we can only accommodate one dog per room. Secondly, we will provide clean and sanitised dog beds for your use, so please specify the required bed size when you book – your own bed will not be accepted. Last but not least, dogs are not allowed on the beds or furniture. If evidence of this is found, there will be an added service charge of £100 per night. The cost per dog is £25.00 per night and this should be paid when you reserve your room. If you have any other questions about our dog areas and rooms, feel free to contact our Estate Manger, James Howarth, directly on 01539 536653 or 07872 399 755.
